Overview

At Buckland Manor Country House Hotel, guests relax before warming log fires in the panelled sitting room and enjoy antiques reflecting the tastes of several centuries. The grounds contain immaculate gardens, with running stream, small waterfalls, croquet lawns, tennis courts, and a heated swimming pool. Golfing guests enjoy the private putting green and there is an 18-hole course at nearby Broadway.

Location

The ancient valley in which Buckland Manor now stands was first mentioned in around 600 AD, when the land was owned by the Abbey of Gloucester. It was later recorded in the Domesday Book. The Manor, set in glorious grounds, dates back to the thirteenth century, and now this fine old house has been tastefully converted into a luxurious hotel, ideally situated for discovering the delights of Shakespeare's Stratford and touring the superb Cotswold countryside.

Accommodation

Set on a hillside, overlooking magnificent landscapes, Buckland Manor retains the long-lost lifestyle of gracious living, the gentle ways of English landed gentry, but while the fabric of the old manor house is medieval, the standards of service and comfort are entirely modern. All rooms are individually furnished with thick-pile carpets, antiques, original oil paintings and objets d'art. There is a remote controlled television set hidden unobtrusively in a craftsman made cabinet, direct dial telephone, fresh fruit and flowers in each room. In the bathrooms are soft, fleecy bath-robes and the finest quality toiletries.

Facilities

The superb cuisine at Buckland Manor has won many accolades over the years, and continues to attract connoisseurs of fine food and wine from around the world. Fresh vegetables, herbs and fruit in season are grown in the Manor's own garden or sought by the Head Chef in the nearby Vale of Evesham, known historically as England 's market garden. The dining room is an oasis of calm, where guests can linger over lunch or enjoy a leisurely dinner, overlooking the magnificent view of the rolling Cotswold hills.
