Luxury Hotels / Grand Hotel Baglioni

Overview

With its use of lavish antique furniture, exclusive, elegant rooms combined with impeccable service make the Grand Hotel Baglioni the most prestigious in the city.

Location

Situated in a charming corner of Bologna’s historic centre, the hotel faces onto the highly central Via Indipendenza, just a short distance from Piazza Maggiore and the famous Due Torri. The trade fair complex and some of the city’s main banks are close by.

Accommodation

The 124 rooms, including the suites, offer a unique blend of antique furnishings and the most modern amenities. Each suite is inspired by some of the most important artists: the famous musician Giuseppe Verdi gives his name to the beautiful 200 sm suite, or the sculptor Giambologna, and the contemporary painter Giorgio Morandi to others. Marvellous drapes and eighteenth century paintings line its long corridors and spacious rooms.

History & Awards

Built during the first half of the eighteenth century at the behest of Cardinal Prospero Lambertini, the building was originally designed to house a bishop’s seminary. Originally converted into a hotel in 1911, the building was completely refurbished in 1985. The last renovation in 2002 enhanced the hotel with a new hall and elegant suites. On April 2003 the hotel was appointed by Conde’ Nast Traveller’s readers as one of the 60 best hotels in the world and gained position no. 6 in the “Conde’ Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice 2003”.
