| Mind, Body and Soul / Helene Facquet |
Overview Helene Facquet teaches mainly Hatha
and Sivananda yoga but also Ashtanga yoga. In Hatha yoga, one holds
the posture sana - for several breaths and concentrates
on perfecting the alignment of the body. Helene Facquet varies the asanas
each time so the person works on a different part of the body
each week, focusing one day, perhaps, on hip opening, another day on
back bends and sometimes teaching a more general class. In Sivananda
yoga there are twelve basic asanas, from Tadasana,
the standing mountain pose, to Shirshasana, the head stand,
to Paschimotanasana, the sitting forward bend. These twelve
asanas are the basis for a healthy body and life and have
to be practiced in the same sequence until they have been mastered.
Hþlúne also includes breathing exercises Pranayama - in
her classes, teaching the mind and the body to relax, increasing the
concentration and the energy. In Ashtanga yoga, Hþlúne teaches the primary
series. Ashtanga yoga is a sequence of postures that flow
like a dance. It is a fast and dynamic yoga. Ayurveda Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system based mainly on the prevention of illness through diet and way of life. The Dosha of the person will determine the proper way of life and diet. The Dosha itself is determined by the person's physical (size, weight, hair, eyes), mental (hectic, worried, aggressive) and physiological (digestion, menstruation) states. Massage is an important part of this system as it helps relax, re-energise and/or re-balance the person. An Ayurvedic massage is both relaxing and energising. Hþlúne adapts the massage and the oil she uses to the individual. During the massage, she stimulates Marma points as well as the Chakras. The massage can be either full body or head, neck and shoulders. In addition, she can recommend a life style and diet adapted to the individual. Yoga and Ayurveda are closely linked, both by their origins and by their philosophies and views on life - the union of the person with the universe and nature, the union of the body, the soul and the mind, the wholeness of our world. Qualifications Helene Facquet trained to be a teacher in the Sivananda ashram in Neyar Dam, province of Kerala, India, in January 2003 and has been practicing yoga for 5 years. She trained to be an Ayurvedic massage therapist with a Sri Lankan Ayurvedic doctor in London and obtained her diploma in 2002. Location Helene Facquet is based in London, W1 and can travel to
her clients' home/office within London. |
