The reputation of Le Gavroche continues to ride high in the eyes of critics and customers and now firmly rests on the food prepared by Michel Roux Jnr who took over the day to day running of the kitchen from his father, Albert, in 1990.

Location

A restaurant in its own right, Le Gavroche is located in Upper Brook Street, within the Mayfair area (nearest tube station is Marble Arch). Combining classic traditional cuisine, with a more innovative and modern style of cooking, people come to Le Gavroche for its classic French Food. Le Gavroche maintains the very highest of standards.

The restaurant can feed sixty people at once, with the largest table seating 10 people, and there is a sense of unremitting concentration and effortless attention to the needs of the clients, who are immediately made to feel at home by the award winning maitre'd, Silvano Giraldin and his team.

Michel Roux

Michel Roux, born on 23 May 1960, is a graduate of Le Gavroche, where he received his schooling in its kitchens and is imbued with its unique atmosphere and style. As his father’s son, Michel could only have a deep respect for the classical foundations of French cooking. The name Roux is synonymous in Britain with the qualities of French haute cuisine, but to stand still is to stagnate. As Michel states, “We aim to achieve the highest possible quality, not just with the food for which we are renowned, but in every aspect of the dining experience. Quality of service, the wines we offer and the ambience all enrich the time spent with us.”

Awards

Le Gavroche continues to set the standards of cooking and service by which other places are judged - it was the first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two then three Michelin Stars, and was the first Michelin rated restaurant to offer a set-price lunch.
