Magical Resorts / Little Dix Bay

Overview

Just beyond a colorful barrier reef, lapped by gentle blue waters, lies the softly curving crescent beach of Little Dix Bay. A paradise which offers tranquillity found nowhere else in the Caribbean; where the pristine shoreline and the soaring rock cathedrals of the Baths of Virgin Gorda create an unrivalled setting in which time seems to be suspended.

Location

Centered around a secluded, crescent-shaped beach on the island of Virgin Gorda, Little Dix Bay rewards its discerning guests with an instantaneous retreat from their fast-paced lives.

Facilities

Cottages and guestrooms blend unobtrusively into the surrounding landscape; guests arriving by boat do not notice any apparent building lines, only white sand with Bohio huts as sunshades against a backdrop of sea grape trees and coconut palms. This attribute upholds founder Laurance Rockefeller's vision of a vacation hideaway that emulates a style of low-key luxury while embracing conservation and reverence for the environment.

History

Virgin Gorda was named in 1493 by Columbus, who saw in the islands that now frame Little Dix Bay the silhouette of a portly woman lying on her back. (Virgin Gorda translates to "Fat Virgin.")
