On the ground floor the Old Westminster Library, The Cinnamon Club’s lounge bar, open throughout the day, offers the perfect escape from politics where guests can browse the excellent book collection while savouring acclaimed cocktails.

Location

Round the corner from Westminster Abbey and running parallel to the Houses of Parliament, the Old Westminster Library was founded in 1897 and ceased to be so a century later. The ground and basement floors are now being used by The Cinnamon Club. A Grade II listed building, the library's inherent features and look have been retained, with book shelves with books on them lining the walls as they would have before. Parque flooring has been revived and original screens have been kept in place. Indian marble and stone has been imported from quarries in Rajasthan. The interior design is clean, elegant and simple - with splashes of India.

Design

The bar has a unique look. Designers Mueller Kneer Associates have created a luxurious and intimate space that complements the style of the existing restaurant, while at the same time creating a natural transition into a totally new environment. Modern to the eye, the bar also echoes historic India . Dark timbers, beige and sand colours are being used, along with leather to add warmth and opulence. An etched glass back-lit screen sends the senses alight when visitors first enter the bar through both still and moving images.

Cocktails

The lounge bar makes a special feature of its dazzling cocktails, which use many Indian fruits and spices, creating what is probably the first and most unique selection of lassi cocktails.
