| Safaris and Game Reserves / The Selinda |
Overview Linyanti Explorations' camps in the Selinda Reserve are small and personal, where only a handful of guests can experience a big game safari in the finest African tradition. There are two main camps namely Selinda Camp and Zibalianja - and two trail camps, Mokoba and Tshwene, which are used on the walking safaris. The reserve boasts excellent sightings of lion, cheetah, wild dog, buffalo, roan, wildebeest, elephant - and masses of zebra and giraffe. Location The Selinda is a private reserve in northern Botswana, covering some 1350 square kilometers. It is located along the Selinda Spillway, a watercourse linking the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti Swamps. Game viewing in general is spectacular in The Selinda - but even more so on foot. The sheer quantity and quality of game seen on the walking trails attracts photographers and true safari enthusiasts 'in-the-know' from far and wide. And it is these walking safaris that set The Selinda apart and make a trip to this remote part of Africa all the more rewarding. Accommodation Accommodation is charmingly rustic yet comfortable - allowing guests to experience the 'real Africa'. There are two main camps, Selinda Camp and Zibalianja. The accommodation is in Meru style safari tents under thatched canopies. Selinda Camp's comfortable safari tents offer splendid views over open floodplains dotted with palm islands. The camp sleeps 12 people in six tents, each boasting an en-suite bathroom with fully integrated facilities. A very special and exclusive safari experience. Facilities at Selinda Camp include two-tiered thatched dining, lounge, and reading area, with open bar facilities, a curio shop and self-serve bar, plunge pool and camp fire. Zibalianja Camp is a small, intimate safari camp, which sleeps 6 people in en-suite Meru style safari tents, situated on raised wooden platforms with flysheet and a shade net cover. It is beautifully located on a palm island on the edge of Botswana's northern Linyanti Swamps, near the lagoon after which it is named - offering panoramic views of open floodplains. Facilities at Zibalianja include solar lighting, a curio shop and fully stocked bar, a campfire for cool evenings and a viewing deck. Activities Two night walking safaris. Early morning game drives aboard 4x4 Land cruisers, followed by an open-air "brunch". Sufficient time to relax by the pool, siesta, or write postcards. Afternoon game drives, with sundowners, that blend into a night drive with spotlights. Occasional bush dinners. Short walks from camp or on drives. Every full moon, an opportunity to take part in a monthly game count. |
